Rest & Refresh

It’s exciting to be publishing books and creating new artworks. Being in shows and reading my poetry brings friends, new friends, and insight to the work. Sometimes I need to take a break from the social media, paperwork, and even the joy of creating new work. I want to unwind and be refreshed.

I did just that meeting up with a friend. We walked through the beautiful Descanso Gardens. Read poetry aloud. Drank rose water lemonade. Later on, alone, I visited an art show and the Japanese Garden. It was a special day celebrating roses. A Rose Princess arrived and a staging of a version of the Big, Bad, Wolf entertained families.

I enjoyed reflections of trees in the lakes, the poppies reaching to the sky, the mystery of the old oaks, and the vistas.

I left feeling the expansiveness and wonder of nature and the gift of friendship. The stillness brings energy for the days ahead and new ideas have room to be birthed.
