Preparing for a Solo Show

In a month, my solo show, “Quiet Lantern” will open. I selected the title from a book I’ve written. I also use Asian fabrics often.

I visited the space last week to get a sense of show placement. I will be providing artwork for two rooms and a wide hallway. Probably around 40 pieces. That’s a lot of art! I’m excited to be in a community space and in City Hall. They do the fliers, price list, and hang the show.

I always like to have some new work for a solo or two-person show. I designed three new works for this exhibit. I saw a narrative element in them and hope to write a poetry story inspired by this work at a later date. I was thrilled to use several fabrics from my Japanese pen pal.

This show will also include a four hour workshop that I am designing geared towards families, an interview in City Hall Chambers, and an outdoor show.
