Outdoor Art Shows

This past weekend I exhibited my fiber art at two outdoor shows. One was held in the backyard of a home and the other downtown in an alley.

“Spring in the Arts Show hosted by Inspiration Station” was held at a home. The backyard was transformed by art displays, contemporary dance, live music, and poetry readings. The day also included a motivational creativity talk and glass shaped by a blow torch demonstration. I exhibited my fiber art and read poetry. I gave copies of a couple of my poems to audience members. Dancers used the lemons from a tree as part of the dance. It was fun to enjoy the other presentations and to make new creativity connections.

“The Alley Gallery” is held in an alley next to a coffee shop. This began as an event with a few artists and musicians and grew to taking up the whole alley. A further expansion of the show includes a downtown art walk where artists display at restaurants, jewelry stores, etc. It’s a lot of work to set up outdoors for a one-day event. There’s also the weather to contend with. I enjoy seeing friends, encouraging young artists and writers, and making new friends. It’s also fun to share about the concepts and how I make my fiber art.
