Quail Botanical Gardens

I had an afternoon alone to go exploring in Encinitas, CA. I began my journey at the Quail Botanical Gardens. The day was overcast and cool so the gardens weren’t crowded. I brought a black marker, prismacolor pencils and a sketch book that fit into a small ziplock bag. I found many benches where I would sketch and write poetry as I rested.

There was something new to explore around every corner including: Australian Garden, African Garden, Walled Garden, New Zealand Garden, etc. It was nice to be on my own schedule and going at my own pace. The shapes, colors and textures will provide inspiration for future art works.

  1. Cidy – I’ve been meaning to go to Quail Gardens, I was told it’s excellent. Now I want to even more. And your blog is really impressive. I’ve seen some pretty shabby ones, and this one is truly professional.
